VA Benefits 2026: What Veterans Are Entitled To — and How to Make Sure You’re Getting It All
Millions of American veterans are leaving money on the table. Here’s a plain-language guide to every major VA benefit available in 2026 — and how to claim what you’ve earned.
Disability Compensation
If a service-connected condition affects your daily life, you may qualify for monthly tax-free payments. 2026 rates range from:
- 10% disability: $175.51/month
- 50% disability: $1,075.16/month
- 100% disability: $3,737.85/month
Higher rates apply if you have dependents.
Education Benefits (GI Bill)
The Post-9/11 GI Bill covers full tuition at public in-state schools, a housing allowance, and up to $1,000/year for books and supplies. If you served at least 90 days of active duty post-9/11, you may qualify.
VA Home Loan
No down payment required. No private mortgage insurance. Competitive interest rates. Available to most veterans, active-duty service members, and surviving spouses. There’s no income cap.
Healthcare
VA healthcare covers primary care, mental health, dental (for qualifying veterans), and prescription drugs — often at zero or very low cost. Enroll at VA.gov or call 1-877-222-8387.
Pension (for Low-Income Veterans)
If you served during wartime and have limited income, the VA pension provides additional monthly income. Surviving spouses may also qualify for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC).
